Keep the phone system you own and connect it to the cloud with SIP
Link your existing PBX to MCM with a SIP trunk. Your desk phones keep working, your calls go through the cloud, and you move people over when you are ready.
- Keep your PBX
- Backup route
- Move at your pace
Calls move through the trunk both ways
Pick a situation to follow the call, step by step. Names and places are examples.
One channel is one call at a time
Ten customers ring at the same moment. Choose how many channels your trunk has and see who gets through. The numbers are an example.
Too few channels. 6 callers are turned away.
Start with the trunk, move people later
You do not have to switch everything at once. Pick a stage to see how much has moved to the cloud.
An example plan. Your team and timing will differ.
Connect your phone system in three steps
Ask the team to check your system first. Not every phone system supports SIP.
- 01Check your systemTell MCM which phone system you use and how many calls run at once.
- 02Connect the trunkPoint your system at MCM. Your team helps you set the routes and a backup.
- 03Move at your paceStart with outside calls through the cloud, then move people across when you are ready.
SIP trunking FAQs
What is SIP trunking?expand_more
A SIP trunk is an internet connection that carries your phone calls. It links your existing phone system (a PBX) to MCM, so your calls go out and come in through the cloud instead of old phone lines.
Do I have to replace my phone system?expand_more
No. You keep the system and desk phones you already own and connect them to MCM. You can move people to MCM Cloud Phone later, a few at a time, when you are ready.
Can I keep my phone numbers?expand_more
Usually yes. Number porting has its own page. Ask your MCM account team about your numbers and how long a move takes.
What is a channel?expand_more
A channel is one call at a time. If you have ten channels, ten calls can run at once. Your team can help you size this from how busy your busiest hour is.
What if my internet goes down?expand_more
You can set a backup, such as sending calls to a mobile or another office. Failover rules are part of setting up your trunk, so plan them with your account team.
Will it work with my phone system?expand_more
Many business phone systems support SIP. Ask your MCM account team to check your system before you start. This page does not list supported models.
Can I offer SIP trunking under my own brand?expand_more
Yes. Partners launch MCM under their own logo, domain and apps, and SIP trunking is one of the ways to bring a customer's existing phone system across. There is no license fee or setup bill, and MCM earns as you grow.
