What is the country code for France?
France's country code is +33 — but read that as *metropolitan* France. Reach a Paris or Lyon line and +33 is right; reach Guadeloupe, Réunion or French Guiana and +33 will fail, because each overseas department has its own code. French numbers are written domestically as 10 digits with a leading 0 (e.g. 01 23 45 67 89); drop that 0 and swap in +33 from abroad.
Under ITU E.164, +33 covers only metropolitan France. The overseas territories sit outside it — Guadeloupe is +590, Réunion and Mayotte +262, French Guiana +594, French Polynesia +689.

How to call France from anywhere
For the mainland the shape is simple: exit code + 33 + a single leading digit (1–5 for landlines, 6/7 for mobiles, the 0 dropped) + the remaining 8 digits. For an overseas department you'd use its own code instead of 33.
That lone digit after +33 is a whole region, not a city — and it only works for the metropole; a Réunion number runs through +262, never +33.
