What Is Kbps?

Information About Technology

Kbps

Kilobits per second (Kbps) refers to the speed at which data moves and is indistinguishable from transmitting 1000 pieces of information each second. This measurement is commonly used in broadcasting and data exchanges to determine the appropriate transfer rates.

If you’re familiar with information transfer, you’ve probably heard of Kbps, Mbps, and Gbps. However, Kbps can be a bit confusing compared to the other two units. It’s important to note that the cutoffs for a T1 line are 1.544Mbps and 1,544 Kbps. And just in case you hear it, Kbps is simply another way to say kilobits per second, or Kbit/s or Kb/s.
